  • Amazingly beautiful day in Lijiang. Warm, sunny, clear air. Easy start. Frustrating technology. Foolishly checked work email. #
  • Visiting monastery destroyed in cultural revolution. Reflecting on tensions between state and society over faith (here and now in UK too). #
  • Peace & quiet in small (albeit tourist) village. Relaxing medley of insects, workmen, breeze in trees, my cough. Restaurant turns on jazz. #
  • Observed more (self? voluntary? forced? cynical?) commodification of the ‘internal other’ in Baishan village. #
  • Summer shower came from nowhere. Very refreshing. #
  • My mobile phone died (again). No twitter updates, work email or blog entries. #
  • Alas, phone still dead. Heading to mountains. #
